Megha R. Patil, who secured an overall 10th rank in the State in the PU examinations this year, attributed her success to her teachers and her parents who stood by her and encouraged her to perform better at all levels.

A student of Gurukul Pre University College, Megha, who secured 587 marks out of 600, also emerged as the district topper.

A daughter of Rudragowda Patil, a Political Science lecturer in a government college in Yadgir district, Megha was also a topper in the SSLC Examination in Yadgir district before joining Gurukul PU College two years ago.

Megha, in a chat with The Hindu , said that the tight coaching schedule and bridge course offered in the school helped her perform better. She said that her parents’ support and encouragement acted as a booster to her performance.

Megha, who scored 100 in Physics, Mathematics and Biology and 99 in Chemistry, said that she hoped to get a higher rank in the Common Entrance Test (CET) and that she would take NEET also.

She wants to pursue medical course and preferably, join a medical college in Kalaburagi.

Last year, a student from the same college, Gowthami, secured the second place in the district in the PU examination.

This is for the first time that a student from the college has secured the first place in the district.
