December 14, 2014 12:52 pm | Updated 12:52 pm IST - KOPPAL:

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that maize procurement centres would be opened all over the State and would be functional from December 22.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, who was returning to Bengaluru after attending a function in Vijayapura, was responding to questions by presspersons during a brief technical halt at a private airport, near here, on Saturday.

With regard to opening paddy procurement centres, a decision would be taken soon in consultation with the Cabinet sub-committee, he said.

Expressing concern over two days being lost during the winter session of the legislature owing to the mobile phone viewing controversy and problems of sugarcane growers, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the legislature was a temple of democracy and legislators should behave with utmost responsibility.

“People talking about culture view pornographic videos sitting in the legislature. Where is our culture heading,” he said.

Mr. Siddarmaiah, while stating that Housing Minister Ambareesh was looking at his phone for a different issue. However, he said that he was not defending it.

Ministers Krishna Byre Gowda and H.S. Mahadev Prasad were present.
