Dhananjay Munde, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council in Maharashtra, while reiterating the demand that Belagavi should be merged with Maharashtra, has said that he would request the Maharashtra Chief Minister to lead a delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to press for the demand, which has been pending for long.
He was addressing a Maha Melav organised by the Maharashtra Ekikarana Samiti (MES) to oppose the holding of the special session of the Legislature that began here on Monday.
Assuring his support to the ongoing campaign of MES, Mr. Munde said that they had the support of 12 crore Maharashtrians too. “When I came here, many people in Belagavi approached me and urged me to ensure that Belagavi was merged with Maharashtra,” he said and added he would take up the issue of taking a delegation to the Prime Minister in this regard, with Maharashtra Chief Minister.
Kolhapur district unit Shiva Sena president Vijay D. and Belagavi City Corporation Deputy Mayor Madhushri Pujari were among other prominent leaders to attend the Maha Melav.
