‘Mahamastakabhisheka’ of Gomateshwara to be held in Feb 2018

The next Mahamastakabhisheka of Gomateshwara at Shravanbelgola will be held in the first week of February 2018. The dates were decided in a managing committee meeting of the mutt held on Saturday.

Jain Mutt seer Charukeerti Bhattaraka Swamiji, here on Sunday, announced the dates.

The first Mahamastakabhisheka was held in 981 under the leadership of Chavundaraya, Prime Minister in the Ganga dynasty. Since then the event is held for every 12 years.

The President, Vice President and Prime Minister would be invited for the event.
