Left opposes government’s plans to privatise PSUs

January 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Bidar:

Left parties and labour unions have started a signature campaign against the Union government’s plans to privatise public sector undertakings.

‘Damage to economy’

This will cause irreparable damage to the Indian economy, labour leader Basavaraj Malage said in Bidar after launching the campaign at BSNL Bhavan.

He said selling out BSNL to private parties would not only take away the right of poor Indians to communicate at affordable prices, but also pose serious threats to national security.

Nagashetty Dharampur, writer, asked service users to save BSNL by increasing subscriptions. He asked the service provider to offer more services at lesser rates. R.P. Raja, Gunavant Shindhe, K. Bakkappa, Sagar Shambhurao, K.S. Bhandari, Arun Jadhav and others were present.
