K.R.Pet Tahsildar goes missing, police suspect abduction

K.R. Pet Tahsildar Mahesh Chandra, one of the senior revenue officials in the State, has been missing since Thursday night. The police suspect that he could have been kidnapped as his car was found abandoned at Chikkavaddara Gudi of Mysuru district on Friday morning.

Mr. Mahesh Chandra hails from Mysuru district and was transferred from K.R. Nagar of Mysuru district to K.R. Pet of Mandya district merely 10 days ago. He had applied for three days’ leave to visit his ailing mother at Udupi on Thursday.

The officer’s family is staying in K.R. Nagar. But he is residing in the government quarters in K.R. Pet, R. Yashodha, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue, Pandavapura subdivision), told The Hindu .

According to the police and revenue officials, they tried to reach the Tahsildar on his phone but found it to be switched off.

A case has been registered in Bherya police station of K.R. Nagar taluk and special teams, comprising Mandya and Mysuru police personnel, have been formed to trace him.
