Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will submit an interim report on the Kodagu floods to the Centre on Wednesday.

Announcing this here on Tuesday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he would meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and seek a ₹3,000-crore package as immediate relief for rebuilding Kodagu, which has been devastated by floods and landslips.

Mr. Kumaraswamy, who recently toured the flood-ravaged district, said the final report on extent of loss is being prepared by the district administration.

The Chief Minister said ₹1 crore was donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Mysuru, with Suttur Mutt donating ₹50 lakh and farmers and various other organisations giving away cheques for carrying out relief work.

Moderate rainfall

Relief Commissioner Gangaram Baderia said the situation has improved considerably in Kodagu, but the district experienced moderate rainfall on Tuesday. One team of Central Reserve Police Force has reached Madikeri to assist the district administration in search efforts.

The team will assist about 300 personnel from the Fire Force, Civil Defence, Home Guards, and State Disaster Response Force. The number of relief centres has been reduced even as the number of people in the relief camps is down to 2,630.
