The helpline centre established by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) at the library hall of Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering (JNNCE) in the city for verification of documents for admission to professional courses and to provide information to students on seat allotment will commence functioning from June 5.

Nagamani, nodal officer, KEA, told presspersons that the verification of documents of candidates who had appeared for Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by KEA for admission to professional courses will be done at five counters in the centre. The process will be held in four sessions daily – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; 11.15 a.m. to 1.15 p.m.; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 4.15 p.m. to 6.15 p.m. The candidates are expected to report at the helpline centre one hour prior to the commencement of the session.

She said that prior to each session, resource persons from KEA will brief students on mode of payment of fee, applying online and seat allocation. Students and parents can also interact with resource persons. The document verification process will conclude on June 21.

The KEA has deputed six computer operators, six verification officers and two computer engineers. After the completion of verification of marks cards, domicile, income and caste certificates, a verification slip and login ID will be allotted to each candidate. Based on the login ID, the candidates can log on to the KEA website and apply for the seats, she said.

It has been made mandatory for candidates to be present in person for the document verification process. Last year, more than 10,600 candidates got their documents verified at the helpline centre in Shivamogga for admission to various professional courses, Ms. Nagamani said.

H.R. Mahadevaswamy, principal, JNNCE, said the candidates can use the Internet browsing facilities at the college for selection of seats and for downloading the documents. The college has arranged buses for candidates as well as for parents from Mahaveera Circle prior to the commencement of each session.
