Kalasha Nagar, a special township exclusively for those people who purchased the kalashas (holy pots) to offer abhisheka to the Gomateshwara statue, will get filled up from Thursday. The anointing ceremony starts on Saturday, when the holy bath is done with 108 kalashas.
The Jain Mutt has been offering three-day accommodation for kalasha holders for a rent. The three-bedroom cottages, where six people can stay, are offered at a price of ₹5,400 for three days. “The idea is kalasha holders should come a day in advance and return to their place a day after taking part in abhisheka,” said P.Y. Rajendra Kumar, chief convener of Publicity Committee.
Cottages with two-bedrooms are priced at ₹3,600 for three days and the single-room cottages are available at ₹1,800 for three days. There are dormitories as well.
The mutt would collect the rent from the kalasha holders and credit the same to the State government, which has provided temporary townships by spending about ₹75 crore.
“We will distribute a kit to all kalasha holders. The kits carry special passes to Vindhyagiri, clothes in tune with the tradition of the programme and a memento, among others. Men will get white dhotis and vests and women get saris of saffron and amber,” Mr. Rajendra Kumar said. They have to participate in abhisheka in the clothes they have been given.
