A skating rink will come up at Chandrashekar Patil Stadium in Kalaburagi, said Regional Commissioner and Hyderabad Karnataka Regional Development Board (HKRDB) Secretary Subodh Yadav on Friday.
Chairing a district stadium committee meeting, Mr. Yadav said that the rink will be constructed at an estimated ₹40 lakh.
The HKRDB will allocate ₹20 lakh and the remaining funds would be released from MLA and MP Local Area Development funds and through the Youth Services and Sports Department he added.
He instructed the officials to take immediate action to evict encroachers from the 7 acres of land inside the stadium for establishing a separate cricket and football ground.
Mr. Yadav added that a cricket practice pitch will also be set up in the 2.75 acres of land available at Veerendra Patil Layout in the city.
