Kalaburagi artist participates in Bangkok Biennale

Artist Shaheed Pasha has participated in the Bangkok Biennale 2015, a five-day exhibition of painting, and a workshop-cum-art camp in Thailand from July 10.

Mr. Pasha is the only artist from Karnataka to attend the biennale which attracted 35 artists from India, Nepal, U.S.A, Pakistan and Turkey. He is with the department of studies in visual arts in Gulbarga University.

Mr. Pasha said four of his paintings which mixed traditional art with the modern in Surpur style of painting in acrylic oil canvas were exhibited. The Bangkok Biennale was jointly organised by New Delhi-based Junglee Killol Foundation and SMD Foundation, which provide a common platform for artists to exhibit their talent and provide international exposure for their painting. The open air artist camp was held at the Pattaya beach in Thailand.

Malathi Rao, director, Indian Cultural Centre, Bangkok, inaugurated the exhibition and programme officer in the Indian Embassy Pradeepkumar was present. The exhibition was held at Dot Art Gallery and the workshop at the auditorium in Indian Council for Cultural Relation in Bangkok.
