Kailash Satyarthi to speak at ‘Development Dialogue’

Annual event to be held on Feb 7 and 8

Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi would be among the prominent speakers at the ‘Development Dialogue - 2015’ being organised by Despande Foundation in Hubballi on February 7 and 8 and he would also participate in an interaction programme.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation Naveen Jha and Director (Grants) Neelam Maheshwari gave details of the annual event which will see participation from across the country and abroad.

The other dignitaries who will speak at the Development Dialogue include Founder of Infosys Narayana Murthy, Chairman of Narayana Health, Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder Chairman of GMR Group, G.M. Rao, co-founder of redBus.in, Phanindra Sama, Managing Trustee of Swades Foundation, Ronnie Screwvala, Founder and CEO of Sierra Atlantic, Dilip Chenoy and others.

Mr. Jha said that the Development Dialogue would be preceded by the Education Summit on Febuary 5, in which over 400 teachers from across the state would participate and outstanding teachers would be honoured with ‘Guru Puraskar’.

On February 6, the ‘LEAD Yuva Summit’ would be held during which best social entrepreneurs from the student community would be honoured with LEAD Yuva awards.

Mr. Jha said that the Development Dialogue was aimed promoting social entrepreneurship and this year’s theme for the conference was ‘Scaling by Proving’ and eminent personalities from various fields would share their experiences so that those serving in the field of social entrepreneurship could take lessons from their lives.

Ms. Neelam elaborated on the Navodyami Sammelan which would be held as part of the main event and around 300 micro entrepreneurs would congregate in Hubballi to share their experiences and the best entrepreneurs among them would be honoured during the summit.

She said that as part of the dialogue there would also be ‘Krishi Sinchana’ which would throw light on the innovations done by progressive farmers and works done by various non-governmental organisations in issues concerning livelihood and the event would be held at Shishuvinahal in Kundagol taluk of Dharwad district.
