Students, researchers, teachers, and non-teaching staff of the University of Mysore will participate in the ‘Swachh Gangotri Abhiyan’ campaign on the Manasagangotri campus here on November 9.

The initiative will not be a mere token gesture; it will be a real act of motivating ourselves to clean the campus, Vice-Chancellor K.S. Rangappa has said.

Prof. Rangappa has sought support and cooperation from the public and the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) to make its ‘Clean and Go Green’ campaign a success. The campaign will be launched near the Round Canteen on the Manasagangotri campus by the Vice-Chancellor at 7.30 a.m. on Sunday. Mayor R. Lingappa will be the chief guest.

The Vice-Chancellor, in his appeal, said the Prime Minister has pricked our conscience by drawing our attention to cleanliness issue. “A healthy society is a great asset to the nation and we, members of the higher education domain, must lead by example, especially in cleanliness, which is next only to godliness according to Mahatma Gandhi,” he said. Prof. Rangappa said the university is mobilising its strengths in realising the dream of a clean environment.

Those who wish to participate in the campaign can contact Ravishankar Rai V., coordinator (DST PURSE), Vignana Bhavan, University of Mysore, Manasagangotri, Mysuru-570006.
