“The Jarkiholi brothers will not bring about the fall of the coalition government. But if some other Congress MLAs bring down the government, we will not be responsible for it,” senior leader and former Minister Satish Jarkiholi said in Belagavi on Sunday.
He told presspersons who met him that they had no plans to resign or motivate others to resign. “We want the government to survive and complete its term. We have had differences with some party leaders in the past, but those issues are resolved now,” he said.
He said that he would meet the former Chief Minister and chairman of the coordination committee Siddaramaiah if he were to call them to Bengaluru.
He denied that the meeting of senior leaders K.C. Venugopal and Dinesh Gundu Rao with Mr. Siddarmaiah was about the issues in the Belagavi Congress unit. “I think it was a routine meeting. Since the former Chief Minister was out of the country for a few days, the leaders are meeting to discuss issues,” he said.
He said that political significance should not be attached to his brother and Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi’s absence in the Chief Minister’s programmes in Belagavi on Saturday. “I was there with the Chief Minister throughout the day,” he said.
