Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna has instructed senior officers of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to suspend those responsible for irregularities in the parking yard at Hassan KSRTC bus stand.

During his visit to the bus stand along with Transport Minister D.C. Thammanna on Tuesday, Mr. Revanna said the whole process of allotting the contract of handling commercial space in the bus stand was itself flawed.

“The officer who handled the tender allotment process should be punished. There should be an inquiry into the whole affair,” he said.

The officers have failed to stop collection of exorbitant parking fee from vehicle owners. “The officer in-charge of the bus stand should be suspended immediately,” he said. There were complaints that the private contractor had collected higher than the approved parking fee from vehicle owners.

When KSRTC officers intervened to say that any action against the private agency might attract legal battle, Mr. Revanna said the government would handle it.

Senior officers of KSRTC and Hassan district administration were present.
