I was kept in dark: MLC

June 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - MYSURU:

Countering the assertions of the University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor (VC) K.S. Rangappa and KSOU VC M.G. Krishnan, BJP MLC and member of the KSOU board of management G. Madhusudan on Tuesday maintained that he was kept in the dark and subjects pertaining to the KSOU recognition were never placed in the board meetings he attended.

At a press conference here on Monday, the VCs said Mr. Madhusudan, being a board member, had full knowledge of the KSOU affairs and accused him of “misleading” the public.

The MLC told presspersons here that he learnt about the university’s flaws after its previous convocation. The subjects pertaining to recognition or the letters/notices served to the university either by the former DEC or the UGC were never brought to the notice of board. “Otherwise, I would have intervened,” he said. He challenged the VCs to produce documents to substantiate their claims that he had knowledge about the developments in the capacity as the board member.

Mr. Madhusudan argued that Prof. Rangappa, the former KSOU VC, should not have been appointed to the board as it may result in “clash of interests”. “Prof. Rangappa is the government of Karnataka nominee to the board and appointed by the Chief Minister,” he said.

Mr. Madhusudan told reporters that he had urged Governor and Chancellor Vajubhai R. Vala to take action against Prof. Krishnan and the Registrar for “allegedly tampering with the minutes of the board meeting held on June 12, 2015.”
