The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has taken serious exception to the statement of State Bharatiya Janata Party president K.S. Eshwarappa about his performance as Chief Minister.
Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said: ““I do not require any certificate from Mr. Eshwarappa about my performance… the people of the State have endorsed my performance and it will be reflected in the next elections.”Mr. Yeddyurappa said he was not in a touch with Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar. “I sincerely wish that Mr. Shettar completes his term and the survival of the government depends of the actions of Mr. Eshwarappa and Mr. Shettar.”
Asked whether the Karnataka Janata Paksha was in touch with other political parties, particularly the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for an alliance in the Assembly elections, Mr Yeddyurappa said the party was not in touch with the BSP.
On the regional parties failing to click in Karnataka, Mr. Yeddyurappa said time was now ripe for regional parties to gain the confidence of the people as the national parties had failed miserably to do justice to the State, and the Cauvery issue was a standing example. “Everywhere it is the regional parties which have flourished because the national parties have ignored the local leaders and interests of the respective regions,” he added.
