The houseless people picketting in front of the residence of the Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Naik Belamgi demanding sanction of houses under the Ashraya and other housing schemes in Gulbarga City on Sunday.

Houseless people in Gulbarga on Sunday demanded that the State government provide them houses under different housing schemes for the poor such as Ashraya and Basava.

They took out a procession under the banner of the Karnataka Dalita Sarvodaya Samiti and picketed the Gulbarga residence of Minister for Animal Husbandry Revu Naik Belamagi for more than two hours.

They said the government had time and again assured houseless people in the city that their housing requirement would be fulfilled, but so far no allotment has been made. They alleged that the city corporation authorities were indifferent to the directions of the government and the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Development Corporation to purchase land for housing projects to meet their requirements.
