House burgled

A group of five persons allegedly looted gold and Rs. 4 lakh in cash from a house in the Forest Department quarters on R.C. Road here on Saturday evening, after beating a fifteen-year old boy. Suresh Babu, driver attached to the Forest Department, had gone to Mysuru with his family, leaving his younger son at home, on the day.

At around 6 p.m., two unidentified persons entered his house on the pretext of seeking drinking water. As Varun, the lone boy, went inside the house to bring water, three more persons arrived at the house. All of them beat the boy, tied his hands and locked him up in a room. Later, they broke open a locker and took away the jewellery and Rs. 4 lakh in cash. According to a complainant, Rs. 4 lakh in cash and 250 g gold were looted from the house. The police suspect that someone familiar with the family is involved in the incident.
