Hotels, canteens closed

October 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Mysuru:

Restaurants and canteens here were closed on Friday much to the inconvenience of tourists who thronged to city to witness Jamboo Savari. Many were forced to eat in roadside food stalls and bakeries.

Tourists were seen enquiring with local people about restaurants to have breakfast and lunch at places including Jayalakshmipuram, Saraswathipuram, Kuvempunagar and Ramakrishna Nagar.

Aahara Mela cancelled

As the government had scaled down Dasara celebrations this year, events such as Aahara Mela (food festival), had been cancelled.

Stalls at the mela used to cater to the tourists on the Jamboo Savari day too.

Many hotels offer complimentary breakfasts while few others have offered discount up to 60 per cent for food for guests staying their establishment.

Some tourists affected

Such tourists are not affected but people who have come from nearby places like Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, and Bengaluru were put to hardship owing to the closure.
