To increase voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections on April 18 in Mysuru, the Hotel Owners’ Association has offered discounts to first-time voters and senior citizens.
C. Narayana Gowda, Association president, said first-time voters will be eligible for a 50% discount on items on menus at certain hotels. Those first-time voters with indelible ink marks will have to produce a copy of their age proof to avail the discount.
Hotels offering the discount will display the offer outside their premises.
A few lodges will also be offering citizens aged 60 years and above a discount of 50% on their accommodation bill for a day. Also, travellers will be provided accommodation in hotels and lodges in the city only after they display their inked fingers as proof of having cast their vote, Mr. Gowda said.
The association, with a view to encouraging hotel staff to cast their votes, will be felicitating the top three hotels that achieve the highest percentage of voting among staff, on April 30.
