The Kodagu district authorities have directed hotels, resorts, homestays, and other private guesthouses to cancel all bookings till August 31 in the hilly region.
In a directive issued here on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu P. Sreevidya said the roads in Kodagu had also become unsafe for travel. In the interest of tourists, all hotels, resorts, homestays, and private guesthouses in the district have been barred from accommodating guests and tourists till August 31. A copy of the directive has been sent to Kodagu District Hotel and Resort Owners’ Association and Kogadu District Home Stays’ Association.
The district administration’s directive to hotels, resorts and lodges to cancel bookings for tourists comes amid elaborate relief works taken up by the authorities to rescue people stranded in the isolated and unsafe terrains across the district.
Meanwhile, owners of several lodges, resorts and homestays in Kodagu have voluntarily offered to help the flood-affected people by providing them accommodation on their premises.
