Heavy rain lashed parts of Kodagu which resulted in a surge in the water levels of the rivers flowing through the district during the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.
Bhagamandala recorded some of the heaviest rainfall this season, and the district administration said that the hobli received 150.4 mm of rain. The average rainfall for Kodagu district was 39.53 mm. Apart from Bhagamandala, other places with heavy rainfall included Virajpet Kasaba (68.8 mm), Hudikeri (48.6 mm), Ponnampet (109.6 mm), Srimangala (28.2 mm), Madikeri Kasaba (34 mm), Napoklu (31.2 mm) and Ammathi (22 mm).
The Kodagu district administration has issued an alert that heavy to very heavy rain is expected to lash the region during the next four days as per the IMD forecast.
Meanwhile, a house was damaged in Namgala village in Virajpet taluk following a landslip and Revenue Department officials visited the spot to ascertain the extent of damage.
