Heavy rain increases water-level in reservoir

Incessant rain in catchment area have resulted in increase in water-level at Hemavati Reservoir at Goruru in Hassan taluk.

On Friday at 6 a.m., the water-level stood at 2,897 ft. against the maximum level of 2,922 ft. Last year on this day, the level was 2,876.4 ft.

Parts of Sakaleshpur, Mudigere and Belur taluks have been receiving heavy rains in the last few days. As a result inflow has also gone up. The inflow, this morning, was measured at 26,228 Cusecs. Last year on this day, the inflow was only 2,530 Cusecs.

As of now 14.133 tmcft (live capacity) of water available in the reservoir. However, last year by this time, there was only 3.89 tmcft of water.
