Heat wave continues in HK region

Extreme heat wave conditions prevailed in Hyderabad Karnataka and parts of Bombay Karnataka with Kalaburagi for the first time in the season recording a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, as per the observations recorded by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The maximum temperature recorded in Kalaburagi was also the highest in the recent years. IMD sources said that the maximum temperature recorded in Kalaburagi was also highest in the State. Oppressive weather conditions forced the people to stay indoors and except for the main roads, the traffic and movement of the people in the interior areas were minial. The maximum temperature recorded by Kalaburagi was 5 degrees Celsius more than the temperatures recorded last year on the same day.

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in Bidar which recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius, which was four degree Celsius more than the temperature recorded last year on the same day. Raichur recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, which was 2 degrees Celsius more than the temperature recorded last year. Vijayapura in the Bombay-Karnataka region also recorded a high maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees Celsius more than the temperature recorded on the same day last year.

Ballari and Koppal recorded an identical maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. Bagalkote and Gadag recorded an identical maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius. IMD sources said that dry weather would continue in the Hyderabad Karnataka and Bombay Karnataka regions for the next 48 hours and the day and night temperatures would continue to be high.
