HC notice to State on school fee rules

August 07, 2018 12:14 am | Updated 12:14 am IST - Bengaluru

The Karnataka High Court on Monday ordered issue of notice to the State government on a petition questioning the legality of the Educational Institutions (Regulation of certain fees and donations) Rules, 2018, which allows private schools to increase fees based on certain parameters. Justice B.V. Nagarathna passed the order on a petition filed by Karnataka Vidarthigala Poshakara Jagruthi Vedike and others.

“The amended rules are totally beneficial to private school,” the petitioners alleged, while complaining that the rules were amended to circumvent a direction issued by the High Court to implement the earlier rules governing fixation of fees by private schools.
