Alleging that Hassan Deputy Commissioner Umesh H. Kusugal is “ineffective”, H.S. Prakash, Hassan MLA, on Tuesday said that the district never had not seen such an official in the past.

Speaking to press persons here, Mr. Prakash said that the Deputy Commissioner hardly interacted with common people.

“Forget common people, he does not respond to MLAs’ telephone calls. He has not answered many of my telephone calls. How can we expect him to do justice to people of the district,” he wondered. The Deputy Commissioner had failed on all fronts. In spite of bringing to his notice the menace of illegal sand transportation, the official had not taken appropriate action to curb it. Common people were not getting sand for construction activities. “While some officials were involved in illegal sand transportation, the district administration hadn’t taken action against them, though it has the power to do so,” he alleged.
