The Indian Institute of Hams (IIH), a licensed agency of the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication, Government of India, is helping enthusiasts to learn the requisite skills and communication technology for becoming a ham radio operator.

A two-day workshop on Ham Radio began at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI) on Saturday.

The participants are given information on ham operations.

The workshop will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m., according to the organisers.

Hams play an important role by establishing communication network during natural calamities.

The hams can conduct and participate in Radio Direction Finding (RDF) events, participate in various radio contests for awards and honours, and communicate with other hams located across the world.
