Fasanulla (30), a transgender who made it to the gram panchayat in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru district in the recent elections, has high political aspirations.

Ms. Fasanulla, who was elected to the Kunnala Gram Panchayat, comes from a humble background.

As a resident of Chakenahalli, she says her village lacks basic amenities such as drinking water, drainage system and roads. She wants to bring development to her village. The sixth standard dropout plans to focus on ensuring that all children get access to education. Fasanulla owns a small teashop in the village. Her future plans include contesting for the taluk and zilla panchayats.
