Hundreds of people different parts of Hassan district participated in the health check-up camp here today and underwent medical examinations.

The event organised by the district administration received a good response as KSRTC provided buses to ferry people from rural areas to the camp site at the district stadium.

The Health and Family Welfare Department had made arrangements for the diagnosis of patients with serious ailments. Specialists from Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, Madikere Medical College, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Kidwai Institute, Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, NIMHANS, Bowring Institute, K.C.General Hospital and other reputed instituted participated in the camp. More than 500 doctors were present.

The camp had the facility to conduct examinations including ECG free of cost. The highest number of cases was reported in the Ophthalmology department. KIDWAI institute had brought the machinery to detect cancer at the preliminary stage.

KSRTC had deputed one bus to two gram panchayats each to bring the public. Each bus conducted two trips on the day. The district association of druggists and chemists provided medicines worth over ₹3 crore free for the camp.

Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna, who is also Minister in-charge of the district, visited the campsite and inspected the arrangements made to provide medicine and food for the participants.

Mr. Revanna said more than 500 specialist doctors participated in the camp. “Specialists from reputed institutions participated in the camp and diagnosed the patients. Moreover, the patients received medicines free of cost. KSRTC has made arrangements to pick up and drop the people”, he said.

Hassan ZP member Bhavani Revanna, DHO K.M.Sathish Kumar, HIMS Director B.C.Ravi Kumar, Medical Superintendent K.Shankar and others were present at the inauguration of the camp.
