A teenager died and two members of her family are battling for life after the three allegedly attempted suicide at Holenarsipur town on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Fida (13). Her brother Jabbir and mother Rehana Banu are being treated at a hospital.
According to relatives of the family, Jabbir had an affair with a girl in the neighbourhood. Both the families had consented for their marriage. However, the girl's family recently changed their decision and fixed her marriage with someone else. This had upset Rehana Banu and her children.
The three consumed poison around 9 p.m. on Friday. Neighbours found them suffocating and shifted them to hospital, where the girl died.
