The Kalasa police, on Tuesday, detained a man and seized gelatin sticks and detonators from him in Kalasa.
The accused is suspected to have stored the explosives for use in quarries.
Acting upon a tip-off, the police conducted the raid on a house in Kalasa town around 11 a.m.
They found 14 gelatin sticks and 14 detonators along with fuse and wires on the terrace.
Superintendent of Police Harish Pandey told The Hindu that the accused had been a resident of Kalasa for 39 years.
As per the preliminary inquiry he is not known to be linked to any extremist activity.
“We have now registered an FIR and will arrest the accused. He will be produced to the court within the stipulated time and further investigation is being done to find any accomplices of the accused,” he added.
