Furore over ‘donkeys’ remark

December 11, 2018 11:55 pm | Updated 11:55 pm IST - BELAGAVI

A heated exchange took place between BJP member J.C. Madhuswamy and the ruling coalition combine members after Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy took exception to certain remarks made by him against the government.

Trouble began when Mr. Madhuswamy lost his cool during Question Hour while narrating the woes of private-aided colleges owing to problems in getting the government’s permission to fill up the vacancies. Referring to Higher Education Minister G.T. Deve Gowda, he asked: “Are you people grazing donkeys?”

After assuring the member of examining the issue, the CM asked him to desist from making such remarks and use dignified language in the legislature.

This resulted in the heated exchange between ruling coalition members and Mr. Madhuswamy. It ended after the Chief Minister asked the members to maintain calm.
