A farmhand from Saigaon village in Bhalki taluk has complained to the police that her five-year-old daughter was raped three days ago. The police have arrested Dayanand (30) in this regard.
According to the complaint, an unidentified man entered the house at night during power cut and raped the girl. The family learnt of the crime when the girl started crying. They did not complain to the police as they were ashamed, but finally mustered the courage to do so, a senior police officer said.
The girl is in shock and has been admitted to hospital in Hyderabad. According to Superintendent of Police K. Tyagarajan, the medical test results are awaited.
Police officials visited the village and met the victim’s family. A case has been registered at the Hulsoor police station. A similar case was reported from Talwad-M village in Bhalki taluk of the district last month.
