Film festival begins today

‘Belli Mandala’, the district unit of the Karnataka Film Academy, will begin its activities of 2015-16 with a film festival focussing on conservation of water titled “Jaladhani” at the Kamala Nehru National College for Women here on May 2 and 3.

George Kutty, president of the Bengaluru Film Society, will inaugurate the film festival on May 2 at 5.30 pm. “Ananya Haadiya Hejjegalu,” a book on the film career of director T.S. Nagabharana, will be released by literary critic Rajendra Chenni on the day. Deputy Commissioner V.P. Ikkeri, who is also the honorary president of Belli Mandala, will preside. Later, “The battle for water”, a documentary directed by Atul Pagar, will be screened. On May 3, “The song of Padma” directed by Asif Khan, “The stoppage dam” directed by Yasir Telebi and “Aharam” directed by M.R. Venkatesh will be screened.
