The former Minister and sitting chairman of the Belagavi District Central Cooperative Bank Laxman S. Savadi, MLA, Arvind Patil, MLA, and the former MP and former chairman of the bank Ramesh V. Katti were elected to the 16-member Board of Directors of bank here on Saturday.
Polling for 10 seats that remained was held till 4 p.m. and the counting of ballot papers was taken up immediately after the polling at B.K. Model School in the city.
Mr. Savadi from Athani Taluk Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies, Mr. Katti from Hukkeri Taluk Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies, Mr. Patil from Khanapur Taluk Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies, Mahanteshwar Basvantaraya Dodgoudar from Bailhongal Taluk Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies, Annasaheb Shankar Jolle from Chikkodi Taluk Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies and Panchangoud Basangoud Dyamangoudar of Savadatti from Milk Producers and Workers Co-operative Societies were elected uncontested.
Assistant Commissioner and Returning Officer Rajeshree Jainapur, who declared the results in the evening, said of the total 981 votes, 972 (90.08 per cent) cast their ballets one of which was invalid.
