25,000 students expected to participate

“Avva Seva Trust”, which is conducting various programmes focusing on mothers, will conduct a Belagavi region level essay competition for high school students on the subject ‘Avva’ (Mother) this month.

Founder chairman of the Trust and Former Minister Basavraj Horatti, in whose mother’s memory the trust has been founded, told press persons here on Monday that the essay competition would be held simultaneously at 65 centres in 49 taluks of ten educational districts of Belagavi region on December 13.

Mr. Horatti termed the event as a programme aimed at the celebrating the spirit of motherhood and only one boy and one girl from each school would be allowed to participate in the competition.

He said that cash prizes would be given to the three best essays in every taluk. The winners would get cash prizes of Rs. 1,000, Rs. 600 and Rs. 400 respectively and a momentum.

Ten best

Mr. Horatti said that of the first three prize winners in each taluk, one student from each district would be selected and he or she would be felicitated with cash prize of Rs. 5,000 each at the ‘Avva Award Presentation Ceremony’ to be held in Hubballi on December 28.

He said that around 25,000 school children would be part of the programme of expressing their feelings about their mothers and celebrating the spirit of motherhood. The programme would also enable one to understand the significance of mother in one’s life, he said.
