ECI allows govt. to provide relief to farmers

Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha has said the Election Commission of India has permitted the State government to provide compensation to farmers who suffered crop loss and death of their cattle in a hailstorm in the north Karnataka region. Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, he said a survey had been conducted by officers concerned and his office had sent a report to the ECI. Mr. Jha said the government had been directed not to involve any non-official person in the distribution of compensation to farmers.
