Drunk man shoots at, injures son

A 46-year-old ex-servicemen allegedly shot at and injured his son, on the left thigh, here on Tuesday late night.

Police said that Somshekar A. Chinchkote, working as security guard with a private bank, was drunk when he shot his son Veeresh in a fit of rage following an argument over his drinking habit.

On Tuesday night, Somashekar returned home in an inebriated condition. An argument broke out between father and son during which Somashekar shot at Veeresh with a double-barrel gun, leaving him severely injured.

Veeresh was rushed to Basaveshwara Teaching and General Hospital for treatment. His condition is reportedly stable now.

Raghvendra Nagar police have registered a case.
