Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers have urged Chief Minister H.D. Kumarswamy to drop Backward Classes Welfare Minister C. Puttaranaga Shetty from the Cabinet, if does not resign, immediately. They staged protests in Raichur and Yadgir on Sunday.

Accusing the coalition government of supporting corruption at all levels, the BJP workers said that Ministers are indulging in the process of transfer of officials and clearing files after collecting huge amounts of money. This was the case with the typist of Mr. Shettty who was caught red-handed by the police with ₹ 25.76 lakh in cash at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. “If Mr. Kumarswamy intends to provide corruption-free administration, he should immediately drop the Minister and order a fair and impartial inquiry to bring the truth out,” the protesters said.
