Its seems the JD(S) is not only roping in a Congress candidate, but also a strategist to contest and win Lok Sabha constituencies.
The former Minister for Fisheries Pramod Madhwaraj is trying to convince the State Congress leadership to allow him to join the JD(S) to become the candidate for the Udupi-Chikkmagaluru constituency on a JD(S) ticket.
In another interesting development, Congress leader and Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar has been appointed as a strategist to ensure the victory of Madhu Bangarappa, the likely JD(S) candidate for the Shivamogga seat. The Congress has conceded the seat to the JD(S).
In the 2018 by-elections to the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, Mr. Bangarappa was defeated by over 50,000 votes by B.Y. Raghavendra of the BJP.
It is interesting to see what role Mr. Shivakumar, who helped the party to overcome many crisises, would play in Shivamogga.
