October 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:01 am IST - KALABURAGI:

The Hyderabad Karnataka Raita Hitarakshane Horata Samiti will stage a protest outside Central University of Karnataka (CUK) at Kadaganchi in Aland taluk on October 26 demanding employment to the families who lost their land for establishment of CUK.

Samiti president Laxman Dasti, addressing reporters here on Tuesday, said the government had acquired 329 acres from 91 farmers at a price ranging from Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 3 lakh per acre, depriving them of their livelihood. The government has failed to provide employment to one member of each family who had lost their land for establishing the university.

The samiti would also stage a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on October 29. The government should provide employment to land-losers in departments where Group C and D posts were vacant, he said.
