The demand for a separate north Karnataka State is unjustified, ‘Mukhyamantri’ Chandru, former chairman of the Kannada Development Authority, said here on Saturday.

Vested interests

“Some vested interests and politicians are putting forth the demand for a separate north Karnataka state. That is not just unjustified, it is ridiculous,” he said.

Century-old struggle

“We should all realise that a unified Karnataka was the result of a century-old struggle by cultural leaders of all parts of Karnataka. That is why, asking for division of the State amounts to betrayal,” Mr. Chandru said.
