Demand for change in guard in State has become irrelevant: Minister

With Rahul Gandhi, Vice-President All India Congress Committee, lauding the work done by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his government, the question of change in guard has become irrelevant, according to P.T. Parmeshwar Naik, Minister for Labour.

Responding to questions from presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Naik said that reports on the possibility of Siddaramaiah being replaced appearing in the media were mere gossip. “The question (change of guard) is irrelevant and doesn’t arise at all now with Mr. Gandhi expressing satisfaction over the functioning of the Siddaramaiah government during his visit to the State recently,” he reiterated.On the demands being put forth by leaders that a person from their community should be made the Chief Minister, Mr. Naik said that it would be looked into by the party High Command.

With regard to reshuffleof the Cabinet, he said it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister.
