Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru Abhiram G. Sankar, who is also the district election officer, said he is examining a complaint against Mysuru Tahsildar Renukumar’s alleged political leanings and a decision will soon be taken whether to use his services for poll duty or not.
Mr .Renukumar, who replaced T. Ramesh Babu, reportedly admitted his political allegiance during a telephone conversation with Mr. Babu before taking charge.
The telephonic conversation, which was recorded by Mr. Babu, was accidentally shared with others and went viral for the sensitive discussions the duo had.
Later, Mr. Babu lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police in Mysuru against an RTI activist for allegedly uploading the audio clip.
Though the Cyber Crime police dismissed the complaint, advocate Gangaraju, who had urged the Deputy Commissioner to send both Mr. Renukumar and Mr. Ramesh Babu on compulsory leave during the polls and investigate the matter, said the authenticity of the tape has been confirmed by Mr. Ramesh Babu himself by lodging a complaint.
The names of Minister for Higher Education G.T. Deve Gowda and Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna had also cropped up.
Mr. Sankar said he was examining the complaint and an appropriate decision will be taken in the matter.
