Four persons died on the spot and six others were seriously injured when a private bus in which they were travelling overturned on NH13 at Chennagiri taluk here on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Praveen, Umapathi, Murthy and Mudassir.
As many as 60 passengers were travelling in the bus when the accident occurred, and more than 30 persons who had minor injuries were given first-aid at a government hospital. The seriously injured patients have been shifted to Davangere government hospital. The bus was going from Chennagiri to Davangere.
The bus driver and cleaner are absconding. A case has been registered at Chennagiri police station.
