Dasara Seva awards presented

Dasara Seva Prashasthi – 2010, announced during the festival last year for best illumination and decoration of buildings, were presented at a function organised under the auspices of Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) here on Friday.

Minister in-charge of Mysore district S.A. Ramdas gave away the awards. MUDA Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath, MCCI president H.D. Raghavendra and vice-president Sudhakar S. Shetty were present.

The awards, divided into categories such as ‘outstanding' and ‘good', were for public and private buildings (business establishments), hotels/restaurants, lodges, cinema, jewellery stores, circles, supermarkets and petrol stations.

The public buildings that had been adjudged outstanding or good were Mysore Milk Dairy, K.R. Hospital, Mysore City Corporation and CADA offices (outstanding) and Mysore Urban Development Authority , Maharani's College hostel, Ayurveda College, LIC building, Bannimantap, KSRTC bus-stand, silk factory, KEB building and Mantru Mandali Circle ( good).

The hotels that won praise for illumination and decoration were Shringar International Hotel, Nalapad Residency, Siddhartha Hotel, and K.V.C. International Hotel, near MUDA ( outstanding), and Mysore Complex Hotel, President Hotel, S.K. International and Sandesh The Prince ( good).

Alukkas on Bangalore-Nilgiris Road, and Tanishq on D. Devaraj Urs Road, were the jewellery outlets that received awards for outstanding illumination of their buildings. Bhima Brothers and Bhima Jewellers also bagged awards on the occasion.
