DA case: retired officer sentenced to 2-year RI

C.V. Margoor, Principal District and Sessions Judge, has convicted Gopal Reddy, retired Agricultural Officer, Tungabhadra Command Area Development Authority office, Ballari, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Mr. Margoor sentenced Mr. Reddy to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on him. Ballari Lokayukta police inspector K.V. Basavarajappa had registered a case in 2005 and had taken up investigation into the disproportionate assets possessed by Mr. Reddy.

B.V. Basavaraj, Special Prosecutor, said the imprisonment had been suspended for 30 days following a plea moved by Mr. Reddy.
