October 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - MYSURU:

The city police arrested two youths for printing fake currency notes of Rs. 100 denomination and peddling them in busy areas during Dasara festivities.

City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda told presspersons in Mysuru on Thursday that Likesh and Bharath, both residents of Mysuru, had printed scanned images of currency notes and were exchanging them for goods or services in busy areas.

“For instance, they would go to a busy tea shop and present the note. If accepted, they would also get the change. If the fake note is not accepted, they would present a genuine note,” Mr. Dayananda said.

The Udayagiri police, which arrested the duo after they tried to circulate the notes at a shop in Kalyanagiri, recovered from them 92 fake notes , besides a printer, computer and other items used for printing the fake notes from their house.
