The CPI(M) State secretariat has come down heavily on party veteran and Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan for his criticism of the State and Central leaderships.
Through a resolution listing Mr. Achuthanandan’s many breach of party discipline, particularly his ‘baseless allegations’ against the party’s Central and State leaders last week which had helped divert public attention from the serious crisis gripping the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF), and his attempts to arrogate to himself the responsibility of expanding the Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) when the decision to broaden the Opposition to change the political balance of forces in the State had already been taken by the party State conference, the party secretariat has asked Mr. Achuthanandan to mend his ways. Releasing the lengthy resolution here on Thursday, CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the resolution was intended to make it clear that the party Polit Bureau’s (PB) statement the other day terming Mr. Achuthananddan’s criticism of the party’s Central and State leaderships was not based on any misunderstanding.
